Overview
The open education field has evolved rapidly since the founding of the OpenCourseWare Consortium (OCWC) six years ago. While OCWC's vision for increasing access to educational opportunity for all remains the same, the leadership team and membership have determined a need for a more focused organizational mission. With organizational effectiveness funding, OCWC would enlist the services of a communications consultant, who would work with the OCWC Director and its board members clarify its mission statement and develop a sustainability model that supports a challenges-based mission.

Grants to this Grantee
for supporting culturally responsive instructional reform in California Community Colleges
Open Education Global leads a consortium of North American community colleges called CCCOER in advancing open education to ensure equitable, inclusive, and meaningful learning experiences. With College of the Canyons, CCCOER will undertake a two-year program to support California Community Colleges in culturally responsive teaching practices through the use of OER and open pedagogy. Participating faculty will engage in a two-semester online program to learn and implement best practices for using open pedagogy to achieve inclusive classroom experiences. Faculty, students, and administrators will participate in the evaluation of the program impact. (Substrategy: Sustainable Systems)
for general operating support
Open Education Global leads and stewards advocacy, development, and use of open education worldwide. The group works with global members, partners, and advocates to generate and advance open education policy, practices, and resources. Its global open education focus and membership uniquely positions it to lead international collaboration with system leaders to build an inclusive ecosystem. (Substrategy: Field Building)
for executive transition and leadership development
Open Education Global (OEG) leads and stewards advocacy, development, and use of open education worldwide. With this grant, OEG will intentionally and thoughtfully implement a leadership transition in 2022, executed within a framework of a culture of care and aligned with the values of the open education community. As part of this transition OEG will update and optimize by-laws, policies and Board operations to ensure the new Executive Director comes into an organization with a solid foundation, an active and high functioning Board, and by-laws aligned with current operational processes. Further, OEG will create a blueprint of the leadership succession plan so that other open organizations can build on the work and knowledge gained. (Substrategy: Executive Transition)
