Overview
A grant to the Observer Research Foundation will support its Cyber Initiative, the goal of which is to create a community of experts and practitioners — within government, the private sector, and civil society — who are able to speak to, share, and identify with a common narrative around security paradigms and civil liberties as it relates to India’s digital spaces. This grant will support the foundation’s effort to create a convening platform for regional discussions on cyber norms, thus exploring whether India’s cybersecurity experience, driven by its democratic and developmental imperatives, can be emulated elsewhere. It will include capacity building and training for key decision makers as well as original policy driven research.

Grants to this Grantee
for support of the Cyber Initiative
A grant to the Observer Research Foundation (ORF) will support its Cyber Initiative, the goal of which is to help build a secure, prosperous and equitable digital realm. The grant will help ORF (a) build out its Cyber Initiative team; (b) commission external research, with an emphasis on new ideas and solutions to balance competing values; and (c) convene online and offline workshops, roundtables, and panel discussions to help disseminate ideas. This grant supports our goal of building a more capable cyber policy field by funding a leading Indian think tank with ever-expanding global reach. (Substrategies: Building Core Institutions and Translation Infrastructure)
for support of the Cyber Initiative
A grant to the Observer Research Foundation will support its Cyber Initiative, the goal of which is to create a community of experts and practitioners — within government, the private sector, academia, and civil society — who are able to speak to, share, and identify with a common narrative around security paradigms and civil liberties as it relates to India’s digital spaces. During the term of this grant, there will also be the initiation of a two-year study that proposes to track cyber incidents affecting Indian organizations. Moreover, it will allow for continued efforts to grow its convening platform for regional discussions on cyber norms, original policy-driven research, and capacity building and training for key decision makers.
