Overview
SalmonState, a fiscally sponsored project of the New Venture Fund, seeks to protect the most important salmon-spawning watersheds in Alaska. The project supports the economic, recreational, and subsistence needs of Alaskans by collaborating with commercial and sport fishermen, Alaska Natives, small business owners, and other members of the public to advocate for the conservation of Alaska’s way of life and irreplaceable landscapes, including Bristol Bay and the Taku, Stikine, and Unuk watersheds, which are part of the greater Southeast Alaska transboundary ecoregion.
