Overview
The Fossil Fuel Reduction Project is a multi-funder and multi-year project of the New Venture Fund. Its purpose is to reduce the impacts on people, wildlife, water, soil, and air from the development of unconventional types of oil. The extraction and processing of unconventional oils in North America have higher carbon intensity and other environmental and human impacts. To ensure a level consistent with global scenarios for atmospheric concentrations of carbon not exceeding 450 parts per million, about two-thirds of oil reserves should be kept in the ground.

Grants to this Grantee
for support of Americans for Tax Fairness’ efforts to champion IRS modernization
Americans for Tax Fairness, a fiscally sponsored project of New Venture Fund, is a big tent of over 400 national and state endorsing organizations working for more than a decade to create a tax system where the rich and corporations pay their fair share of taxes to raise enough revenue to address our nation’s needs. This grant supports the group’s efforts to champion IRS modernization. (Substrategy: Executive Branch)
for support of The League
This grant will support The League, a fiscally sponsored project of New Venture Fund, which uses narrative and culture change campaigns to create a cultural environment supportive of reproductive rights and justice. The League is one of few organizations doing narrative and culture change work at scale with a gender justice lens and that has the infrastructure to do this work across a variety of sectors. (Strategy: U.S. Reproductive Equity)
for support of the Groundwork Collaborative project on IRS modernization
The Groundwork Collaborative, a fiscally sponsored project of New Venture Fund, is a think tank and advocacy project that starts new conversations on the economy by crafting stories about how the economy works that are accessible, intuitive, and compelling and are told through diverse spokespeople who are credible, plainspoken, and fearless. This grant supports Groundwork Collaborative’s work to grow support for the IRS to modernize its operations, build a direct tax filing option, and demonstrate that a well-funded government can play a critical role in strengthening our democracy.
