This grant will support the Media Democracy Fund, a project of the New Venture Fund, and its ongoing work to promote an open internet. It will focus on protecting net neutrality, the principle that internet service providers and government should treat all data on the internet equally, not discriminating or charging differentially by user or content. The fund both provides grants to organizations engaged in open internet work and coordinates coalitions of those organizations.

This grant supports Groundwork Collaborative’s work to grow support for the IRS to modernize its operations, build a direct tax filing option, and demonstrate that a well-funded government can play a critical role in strengthening our democracy.
