Overview
This grant will support the Media Democracy Fund, a project of the New Venture Fund, and its ongoing work to promote an open internet. It will focus on protecting net neutrality, the principle that internet service providers and government should treat all data on the internet equally, not discriminating or charging differentially by user or content. The fund both provides grants to organizations engaged in open internet work and coordinates coalitions of those organizations.

Grants to this Grantee
for the fund for climate and energy in India
The Fund for Climate and Energy in India, hosted at the New Venture Fund (NVF), is a multi-funder pooled fund to advance clean energy and a green economic recovery in India. In the first year of this grant, NVF, and its technical partner, the Shakti Foundation, will focus on the following three areas: (a) making the Indian power sector cleaner and more reliable, (b) supporting government ambitions to advance electric mobility, and (c) enabling India’s recovery from COVID-19 to be green and robust. (Substrategies: U.S. National Policy and Electrification)
for the Evergreen Collaborative
This grant supports the Evergreen Collaborative, a new initiative to elevate the urgency and positive opportunities of bold climate action. The collaborative’s work will focus initially on policies to drive new public investment and strong regulatory standards that advance climate solutions. This work is informed by the current economic crisis triggered by COVID-19 pandemic, trade wars over oil, and the failure to invest in American infrastructure and a strong social safety net. (Substrategy: U.S. National Policy)
