Overview
New Century Chamber Orchestra is one of a small number of conductorless ensembles in the world, allowing musical decisions to be made collaboratively by its 19-member string orchestra. The ensemble performs canonic, classical, and new music, through an annual season of four programs and 16 performances at venues across the Bay Area. Combined with one-off performances and events, the organization serves more than 5,000 audience members each year. In addition, it recently formed a new partnership with the vocal ensemble, Chanticleer, and Trinity St. Peter’s Church, to establish the Trinity Center for the Arts, which will serve residents of the nearby Tenderloin neighborhood of San Francisco.
