Overview
This project will develop federal policy options that strengthen teacher preparation and recruitment-and ultimately improve teachers' effectiveness in the classroom. New America Foundation plans to develop a series of nonpartisan research and analysis memos and publications that examine and propose options for federal policies in teacher preparation and recruitment, focusing on broad themes such as the critical role of teacher education in promoting deeper learning.

The entertainment-focused narrative and culture change practice at New America’s Better Life Lab seeks to influence TV and film storytelling by sharing data and research that encourage creatives to tell stories about abortion, pregnancy, and parenting in the context of people’s full lives. New America is a nonpartisan think tank dedicated to renewing, reimagining, and realizing the promise of America in an era of rapid technological and social change. New America’s Education Policy program builds on existing efforts to elevate the importance of equity and inclusion and the role of high-quality open educational resources and practices in ensuring academic excellence and well-being for all students. This will be accomplished through research and policy analysis, case making, community building, and the development of open tools and prototypes that can be piloted in districts and communities.
