Grants to this Grantee
for bridging open education and equity in preK-12 districts
New America is a nonpartisan think tank dedicated to renewing America by confronting the challenges caused by rapid technological and social change and seizing the opportunities those changes create. New America’s Education Policy program will undertake a three-year project to report on and promote the development of inclusive teaching and learning that combines OER and culturally responsive teaching methods; conduct policy analysis on this topic; and disseminate stories and recommendations on a national level. This grant serves key goals for the Education Program and the Open Education Strategy, including developing pedagogy, practice, and a more inclusive and responsive field. (Substrategy: Systems.)
for support of the Political Reform program
New America’s Political Reform program aims to expand the public conversation aboutAmerican democracy and introduce new ideas through research, convenings, new voices, andaccessible analysis. The program’s approach is grounded in a recognition that politicalreforms are refracted through the realities of political culture, participation, and power. The program’s work is organized around three initiatives: structural reform (such as ranked choice voting and money in politics), civic engagement, and the politics of policy. Approaching reform as a complex system, the program is distinctively able to envision a path toward civic awakening in the next decade. (Strategy: Improving Campaigns and Elections)
