The Funders’ Committee for Civic Participation (FCCP) is a foundation affinity group promoting civic participation as a key to making our democracy work. FCCP supports the philanthropic community in its nonpartisan efforts to engage voters, eliminate structural barriers to voting, advance reforms to improve government and electoral systems, and inspire public involvement in civic life. The organization enables a more effective network of grantmakers by providing funders with a community for strategic dialogue as well as resources for civic participation research, tools, and news. A first grant from the Hewlett Foundation would support Hewlett’s ongoing engagement with the FCCP community of funders.

Grants to this Grantee
for support of the Friends of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights
Friends of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights is a nonprofit fiscally sponsored project of NEO Philanthropy dedicated to preserving federal civil rights oversight and enforcement. The Education team has been focused up to now on shaping national policy related to deeper learning but has paid too little attention to the threats to deeper learning opportunities for vulnerable students. This grant sheds light on who these students are and the factors that inhibit their access to deeper learning opportunities.
