Overview
The National Commission on Teaching and America’s Future develops visions for teaching; advocates for quality teaching by working with national, state, and local education agencies to develop prototypes for improved teacher preparation and organization; and conducts outreach to those who influence education legislation and policy. With Organizational Effectiveness support, the Commission will improve its capacity to plan for and execute on fundraising as it transitions from state and local programmatic grants back to a greater emphasis on national research and policy development. Greater fundraising capacity will improve their chances of attracting additional grants to leverage our investment in their deeper learning work.

for support of teaching for deeper learning
The National Commission on Teaching and America’s Future develops visions for teaching (both practice and policy); advocates for quality teaching by working with national, state, and local education agencies to develop prototypes for improved teacher preparation and organization; and conducts outreach to those who influence education legislation and policy. With support from the Hewlett Foundation and other funders, the Commission would develop evidence and work to move the field toward consensus on policies that foster deeper learning. It would also refine policy agendas at the state level and inform discussions regarding teaching preparation, roles, and environments and student assessment. This grant is part of our strategy to encourage a national conversation around the role of teaching quality and deeper learning student outcomes. This would advance the Education Program’s goals to cultivate a set of national leaders to advance deeper learning and to ensure that federal and state policymakers have the information needed to support best practices.
