Overview
This grant supports the Global Strategic Communications Council, a program of the Meliore Foundation, to expand its strategic communications capacity in Africa. The grant will enable enhanced engagement of local partners and create new opportunities for African voices to resound more strongly, in both the region and globally, on climate change. The focus will be on climate action that both contributes to African energy security and sovereignty, and that supports a just transition away from carbon-based fuels.

The hub does this by providing the connective tissue between cultural outreach and climate campaigns.

Meliore Foundation is a leading organization for philanthropy focused on funding global strategic communications. This grant provides support to the Global Strategic Communications Council, a program of the Meliore Foundation. The focus of the council’s work under this project will be to maximize the positive impact that U.S. policy and climate action can have on global climate diplomacy. Telling stories of the impact of U.S. policies, both inside and outside of the U.S., can promote a global “race to the top” in terms of effective global climate action.

The council delivers strategic communications capacity on climate change to both mainstream and online media across the globe, supporting a strong climate narrative and empowering climate voices across society. It operates across six continents, covering themes such as climate science and impacts, food and nature, finance and economics, energy, transport, industry, and multilateral climate processes.
