Overview
In recognition of the Hewlett Foundations 50th anniversary, the Hewlett 50 Arts Commissions initiative supports the creation and premiere of 50 exceptional works of performing arts. This grant will support "Calamity Joy" (working title), a play about faith, reason, death, and hope in this era when credible facts and data are routinely denied or ignored. The Magic Theatre will present the world premiere of "Calamity Joy" in the San Francisco Bay Area no later than December 2021.
