Grants to this Grantee
for K-12 Illustrative Mathematics implementation support
Los Angeles Unified School District will implement Illustrative Mathematics, a standards-aligned and openly licensed curriculum, across elementary, middle, and high schools. With this grant, the district will provide professional learning for site administrators, teachers, and district leaders. Coaching activities with educators will facilitate problem-based learning and culturally responsive teaching and will inform supports for English learners, as well as for students with learning and attention issues, in mathematics classrooms. (Substrategy: Sustainable Systems)
for support in the implementation of Internationals Network academies
Los Angeles Unified School District is the second largest in the nation, enrolling more than 600,000 students in kindergarten through 12th grade. The district's mission is to embrace its diversity to educate Los Angeles' youth, ensure academic achievement, and empower tomorrow's leaders. LA Unified currently has 7,514 middle and high school students with 0-3 years of enrollment in U.S. schools. These students must learn English and meet college readiness requirements to graduate from high school. The implementation of Internationals Network academies will transform the district's instructional practices to prepare newcomer students for these requirements. This grant will support the implementation of these academies. (Strategy: K-12 Teaching and Learning)
