Grants to this Grantee
for support of research on social norms and demand for reproductive health services in Senegal
This grant will support the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine to design and implement an innovative and inclusive project that generates new knowledge to inform sexual and reproductive health (SRH) interventions in Francophone West Africa. The project will bring together African-based SRH researchers, program implementers, activists, and the targets of SRH interventions to examine the challenges to and solutions for ethical and effective demand generation of SRH services. The project includes qualitative fieldwork in Senegal to investigate how systems of gender norms both limit and expand women’s individual agency, and collective agency with family members, to act on their SRH desires.
