Overview
Living Jazz (formerly Rhythmic Concepts, Inc.) provides jazz education and performance programs, including Jazz Camp West, which provides an immersive summer camp experience for 250 participants from ages 15 and up; Jam Camp provides music training for 90 middle-schoolers of all levels of experience; the Oakland Children’s Community Choir is an in-school music education program for 300 Oakland public school students that offers four months of free music education, and an annual Martin Luther King, Jr. tribute concert showcases the artistry of local musicians and schoolchildren. This grant would assist the organization in making thoughtful and well-informed decisions about possible program expansion, and clarify board roles and responsibilities.
