Overview
Open Oregon Educational Resources promotes textbook affordability for community college and university students and facilitates widespread adoption of open, low-cost, high-quality materials. Open Oregon Educational Resources will offer the Equity and Open Education Faculty Cohort professional development course, which was designed and piloted at Portland Community College, to all Oregon faculty. This course seeks to transform curriculum by asking faculty to consider open educational practices with an equity lens, including universal design, cultural relevance, and diverse perspectives. Open Oregon Educational Resources, supported through Linn-Benton Community College, promotes textbook affordability for community college and university students, and facilitates widespread adoption of open, low-cost, high-quality materials. This grant engages preservice faculty in redesigning their courses with an equity lens in order to prepare their students, who are future K-12 teachers, to be open educators when they enter the classroom. In doing so, this effort helps to expand the educator network and build capacity for the design and use of equitable open educational resources and practices in Oregon.
