Overview
As an African research institution, ICRW Africa (International Center for Research on Women Africa Regional Office) generates evidence on women's economic and reproductive empowerment and provides solutions to intersectional vulnerabilities and inequities that diminish women's and girls' opportunities. Over the next few years, ICRW Africa aims to strengthen its capacity to design, lead, and disseminate policy-relevant research in East Africa, focusing on workplace equity, youth development, and sexual and reproductive health and rights. This core support grant will enable ICRW Africa to deepen these focal areas, including sustained, meaningful engagement with policy actors, and enhance its institutional capacity. As an African research institution, the International Center for Research on Women Africa (ICRW Africa) generates indigenous knowledge and locally produced evidence to advance rights and opportunities for women and girls in the region. ICRW Africa seeks to catalyze gender-responsive social protection policies and interventions in Uganda and Kenya. Through research, strategic partnerships, and policy and public engagement, it aims to strengthen national dialogues and policy advocacy on social protection programs and policies that work for women and on women’s and other marginalized groups’ aspirations for social protection interventions. for support of strategic communications planning and implementation
This organizational effectiveness grant will support ICRW Africa (International Center for Research on Women Africa) to develop and implement a regional communications strategy. Specifically, the funding will allow ICRW Africa to conduct a needs assessment of the evidence priorities of its diverse partners and ensure that its research products are responsive and tailored. Also, sharpening its strategic communications is a critical investment as ICRW Africa seeks to support policymakers and advocates with quality evidence to counter disinformation campaigns by anti-gender and anti-SRHR actors who seek to manipulate public discourse and halt the formulation and implementation of rights-based policies.
