Overview
Initiative Prospective Agricole et Rurale (IPAR) is a policy research institution that strives to contribute to the economic and social development of Senegal and the West Africa region through research, capacity building, and policy dialogue. IPAR contributes to strengthening government decision making and the field of evidence-informed policymaking in Senegal and West Africa by (a) developing quality research on major research issues related to its vision and missions; (b) building the capacities of actors (representatives of the State, Parliament, the private sector, civil society organizations, and journalists) by taking full advantage of the findings of research developed by the institution to foster change; and (c) promoting research findings and stimulating political dialogue around development issues for better outcomes. Initiative Prospective Agricole et Rurale (IPAR) is a policy research institution that strives to contribute to the economic and social development of Senegal and the West Africa region through research, capacity building, and policy dialogue. IPAR’s approach is mainly based on the following: (a) generating timely, context-specific, and policy-relevant research; (b) analyzing the effectiveness of policies and programs; (c) strengthening capacity of key stakeholders that would otherwise be marginalized or excluded from the policy process; and (d) creating an enabling environment for policy dialogue by building bridges among scholars, civil society, government, and citizens. IPAR has identified inclusive governance focusing on women and youth in rural area as a critical development priority in the Senegalese context. Through this grant, IPAR will continue conducting research and supporting rural communities and women-led groups to be more responsive to specific women and/or youth needs for a better access and governance of productive resources.
