Grants to this Grantee
for strengthening evaluation systems
An Organizational Effectiveness grant to the Initiative for Global Development (IGD) will support a contract with Mission Measurement to create a monitoring and evaluation plan. The consultant will help IGD define anticipated outcomes and will conduct research to further test and refine the validity and 'measurability' of these impact statements. Clearly defining impacts and establishing an M&E plan at the outset will assist in sharpening the focus and design of IGD's planned 3-year program expansion.
for general operating support
Over the next 18 months, the Initiative for Global Development intends to continue its research and advocacy to improve U.S. global development policies. Supported by a small policy staff, the Initiative's network of senior U.S. and African business leaders promotes three issues: (1) a U.S. global development policy that delivers broad-based economic growth in poor countries and incorporates U.S. and African business input; (2) country and regional agricultural development plans that focus on the needs of African farmers and businesses; and (3) clear bipartisan congressional support for a more effective global development policy. To pursue these goals, the Initiative mobilizes its Leadership Council of prominent CEOs to act as spokespersons on these issues with Congress, the administration, and business organizations.
