Overview
This matching funds project grant to IKG Cultural Circles (IKG CC) is for the Enhanced African American History Exhibit to be housed at the Thurgood Marshall Center for Service and Heritage in Washington, D.C. The goal of this exhibit is to tell the story of who African-Americans were before enslavement and provide historical context on the role their ancestors played in shaping both African and world history. IKG CC will curate this exhibit, which will uniquely document the missing pages of African history from the Nile, to the Niger, to the Potomac. Some of the highlights will include: the birth of humanity in East Africa, development of civilization in the Nile Valley, migration of African civilization from the Nile to the Niger, the Nile Valley influences on the design of Washington, D.C., and Africa’s gift to America.
