Overview
Hope Street Group (Washington, DC) is a network of young business professionals and entrepreneurs committed to creating an "Opportunity Economy" that provides all children with a meaningful education and their parents with access to jobs, homes, and capital. Hope Street Group's fundamental tenets are that sustainable, robust economic growth and equality of opportunity are mutually reinforcing and that partisan politics stand in the way of achieving these essential goals. 450 national volunteers use their private-sector expertise to create a community of executives and professionals to press for equitable, pragmatic, bipartisan public policies. A general support grant in 2007 enabled Hope Street Group to launch Policy 2.0, an online collaboration platform that will increase the number of the policy team members and volunteers actively participating in creating Opportunity Economics solutions. This renewal general support grant will help the organization promote its Economic Opportunity Index and encourage the adoption of Opportunity Economics policy solutions in the fields of education and health care. (Renewal, $400,000, 7% of organizational budget)

Grants to this Grantee
for general operating support
Since 2006, the Hewlett Foundation has provided general support to Hope Street Group, a network of politicians, practitioners, and others committed to creating an "Opportunity Economy" in the United States that provides children with a meaningful education and parents with access to jobs, homes, and capital. Through Hope Street Group, almost 1,000 active network members convene in person and online to share ideas, which the Group then tests, refines, documents, and disseminates for broader implementation. This renewal grant would provide general support to the organization to continue its existing work and expand the Jobs and Workforce initiative it launched in 2012.
