Overview
Holy Names College will update and upgrade the American Folk Song Collection-Kodaly Collection website. Originally created in 2002 with major support from Hewlett, the website is a primary resources for music education instructional materials based on the Kodaly approach and pedagogy. The website will be significantly overhauled for the first time since its creation to bring it to an open source Content Management System with contemporary user interface; enhance content by adding more songs including Spanish language songs selected and prepared by a specialist; marketing and updated site tracking.

Holy Names University provides professional and liberal arts undergraduate and graduate degree programs. It offers certificates and degrees in music, specializing in the Kodly method, which emphasizes group learning and material that is connected to students culture and heritage. Its Kodly Center also maintains the American Folk Song Collection, an online resource for music teachers, parents, choral conductors, and composers. This grant will support an update to the websites technology, which aligns with the Performing Arts Programs Youth strategy and Program Delivery substrategy by continuing to connect students and teachers with culturally rooted music education.
