This grant to Harvard University will support three consecutive summer school programs composed of 20 to 24 young professionals — Summer School: Expertise, Trust, and Public Policy. The program is aimed at training tech employees, policy professionals, journalists, and future academic analysts in the basics of how to understand and manage public technical controversies. In addition to training students, this three-year model will allow time for developing and perfecting materials and teaching techniques, which could then be disseminated to institutions that wish to internalize such training into their own programs of teaching or professional practice.
