Overview
Greenpeace Asia is working with Chinese developed provinces, such as Zhejiang, Guangdong, and Jiangsu, to strengthen its public will and action in adopting a green and just recovery pathway through research, consultation, and capacity building. The project will amplify voices of key economists and authoritative think tanks about the mutual benefits of new economy and green industry, emphasizing its job creation. Greenpeace will engage with local Development and Reform Commission and Environmental Protection Bureaus from targeted provinces to deliver campaign messages through workshops on green and just transition. The organization will also strategically engage with China’s central government to correct misaligned provincial investments and create openings for behavior change at the provincial level. for supporting the development of clean energy in India
This is a grant to Greenpeace International. The focus is to investigate the options for an international corporate campaign against the worlds largest coal producer - Coal India Ltd. The project will examine the financials, issue reports on CIL's coal reserves, their human rights practices and environmental policies in the context of a soon to be filed stock offering.
Asia Clean Air and Climate Change Program
Greenpeace promotes alternatives to fossil fuels around the world through exposés and creative media. It was the first NGO in China to address coal as the major source of China’s air pollution. This grant will help fund clean air and energy work in East Asia and around the world.
