Greenpeace Fund

This grant is to support Greenpeace East Asia to increase renewable energy demand from the information and communications technology (ICT) sector, for renewable energy expansion in China. China’s ICT sector has the potential for fast decarbonization, yet it lacks the political and economic mandate to do so. This grant will focus on designing incentives and economic, technical, and policy solutions for China’s dominant ICT sectors to embrace decarbonization. (Substrategy: China National Policy)

Greenpeace Asia is working with Chinese developed provinces, such as Zhejiang, Guangdong, and Jiangsu, to strengthen its public will and action in adopting a green and just recovery pathway through research, consultation, and capacity building. The project will amplify voices of key economists and authoritative think tanks about the mutual benefits of new economy and green industry, emphasizing its job creation. Greenpeace will engage with local Development and Reform Commission and Environmental Protection Bureaus from targeted provinces to deliver campaign messages through workshops on green and just transition. The organization will also strategically engage with China’s central government to correct misaligned provincial investments and create openings for behavior change at the provincial level.
