Overview
This grant is to support ECF’s launch of the Zero Emission Heavy Duty Vehicles in Europe campaign in 2019. The campaign will leverage the promising advances in zero-emission vehicle technology and the launch of several battery-electric commercial vehicle models this year in the European market. The campaign’s efforts will target key E.U. countries as well as the E.C., given widespread concerns over poor air quality from diesel-vehicle exhaust and the recent successful passage of the continent’s first fuel efficiency standards for heavy duty vehicles.

Grants to this Grantee
for the Climate Finance Fund
The European Climate Foundation’s Climate Finance Fund (CFF) is a philanthropic platform that helps to mobilize capital for climate solutions. CFF focuses on China, the European Union, and the United States, and on capital allocators across the supply chain: consumers, small and medium-sized enterprises, large non-financial corporations, and banks and asset managers. CFF also provides expertise to market rule makers, like financial regulators, on climate and clean energy finance. There are two pillars of the work, both with a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens: innovative finance and the systemic decarbonization of capital. (Substrategy: Climate Finance)
for general operating support
The European Climate Foundation (ECF) was established in early 2008 as a major philanthropic initiative to help Europe foster the development of a low-carbon society and play an even stronger international leadership role in mitigating climate change. ECF advances policy in the areas of energy, transportation, buildings, low-carbon finance, industry, and energy efficiency. The organization works to develop policy at the local, national, and European Union level. They also support international efforts to mitigate carbon emissions through the United Nations and G20. (Substrategy: Philanthropic Capacity)
for defending the European transition beyond petroleum
The European Climate Foundation’s transport program is a critical partner to our zero-emissions transportation strategy. Using a multifaceted approach that advances vehicle standards and charging infrastructure, highlighting the benefits to jobs and health, the foundation’s grantees will work to electrify all European road transport by 2050. (Substrategy: Electrification)
