Grants to this Grantee
for the Climate Finance Fund
The European Climate Foundation’s Climate Finance Fund (CFF) is a philanthropic platform that helps to mobilize capital for climate solutions. CFF focuses on China, the European Union, and the United States, and on capital allocators across the supply chain: consumers, small and medium-sized enterprises, large non-financial corporations, and banks and asset managers. CFF also provides expertise to market rule makers, like financial regulators, on climate and clean energy finance. There are two pillars of the work, both with a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens: innovative finance and the systemic decarbonization of capital. (Substrategy: Climate Finance)
for general operating support
The European Climate Foundation (ECF) was established in early 2008 as a major philanthropic initiative to help Europe foster the development of a low-carbon society and play an even stronger international leadership role in mitigating climate change. ECF advances policy in the areas of energy, transportation, buildings, low-carbon finance, industry, and energy efficiency. The organization works to develop policy at the local, national, and European Union level. They also support international efforts to mitigate carbon emissions through the United Nations and G20. (Substrategy: Philanthropic Capacity)
for Forum New Economy
The Forum New Economy, housed at the European Climate Foundation, is a Berlin-based nonpartisan platform launched in 2019 with the aim to accelerate the emergence of a new paradigm that leads to economically, socially, and ecologically more sustainable prosperity. The forum brings new economic thinking into the public debate in Germany and promotes and disseminates targeted research that applies innovative approaches to current policy debates around today’s major challenges, such as inequality, financial instability, and climate change. It builds bridges by bringing together leading economists and academics, decision makers and policy advisors at regular events in Berlin. This grant aims to help the forum succeed in its second phase, in which the institution will concentrate on major open challenges (e.g., how to durably reduce wealth inequalities or define a broader modern climate policy); progressively extend the range of stakeholders and audiences; and strengthen its in-house research and policy capacities.
