Overview
The European Climate Foundation — a "foundation of foundations" — was established in early 2008 as a major philanthropic initiative to help Europe foster the development of a low-carbon society and play an even stronger international leadership role to mitigate climate change. ECF supports the sustainable development of a low-carbon society in Europe through policy support in the areas of energy, transportation, buildings, low-carbon finance, industry, and energy efficiency. They also support international efforts to mitigate carbon emissions through the United Nations and G20. The organization works to develop policy at the local, national, and European Union level.
