Overview
The Environmental Health Coalition is the fiscal sponsor of six leading environmental justice groups called the California Environmental Justice Alliance. The Alliance supports state and local policies on renewable energy and energy efficiency and works to ensure that these policies are designed and implemented in ways that are equitable. This in turn helps build support for clean energy among California’s increasingly important majority communities of color.

Grants to this Grantee
for support of the California Environmental Justice Alliance's Climate and Energy Program
California Environmental Justice Alliance (fiscally sponsored by Environmental Health Coalition) is composed of six grassroots environmental justice organizations representing the major geographic regions of the state. The Alliance brings local voices into state policy debates on renewable energy and energy efficiency, and works to ensure that the policies are designed and implemented equitably. This helps build support for clean energy among California’s communities of color, an increasingly important population.
for California Environmental Justice Alliance's communications strategy implementation
California Environmental Justice Alliance (CEJA) previously completed a communications strategy with Center for Story-based Strategy, and has already seen great improvement in their communications work, as evidenced by a 250% growth in their email list and the launch of new social media tools. This organizational effectiveness grant will build upon this momentum by providing CEJA with ongoing communications coaching and help implementing their communications plan. In particular, CEJA will (1) improve their communications capacity through ongoing, professional skill-building sessions; and (2) leverage ongoing learning by applying new skills to active campaigns in consultation with a communications professional.
