Overview
This grant will support Energy Foundation China’s efforts to peak carbon emissions in cities through the Alliance for Peaking Cities. The Alliance was formed in 2015 at the U.S.-China Climate Leaders Summit by 11 cities, and has since grown to 23 cities, who pledge to peak their carbon dioxide emissions earlier than China’s national goal of 2030. This grant builds on the work of the China Sustainable Cities Program, and is an opportunity to accelerate progress by focusing on the role and leadership of Chinese cities.

This grant will strengthen the integration of green finance into key programmatic areas, help build and leverage a net-zero-aligned finance system with more resources flowing into the real decarbonizing economy, and develop a net-zero-aligned trade and supply chain strategy for the foundation and its partners.
