Overview
Energy Foundation China is a program of the Energy Foundation. With this grant, the Program will (a) work with China’s leadership to articulate and promote a new model for more environmentally sustainable economic development; (b) support development of strong energy and climate goals for the thirteenth Five-year Plan; (c) help Chinese city and provincial leaders to implement robust renewable energy, energy efficiency, and urban planning policies; (d) help China Improve Air Quality; and (e) explore ways for China to reduce coal use and increase renewable energy and efficiency. Chinese policymakers have made improving air quality a national imperative. The Energy Foundation’s primary strategy in China is to fund policy development assistance through government-sponsored research institutions.

Energy Foundation works to achieve prosperity and a safe climate through sustainable energy. This grant will support the foundation to continue its efforts on sustainable investment to facilitate the zero-carbon transition of the real economy in China. This grant will strengthen the integration of green finance into key programmatic areas, help build and leverage a net-zero-aligned finance system with more resources flowing into the real decarbonizing economy, and develop a net-zero-aligned trade and supply chain strategy for the foundation and its partners.
