For A Program To Train Emerging Market Investors To Support And Advocate For Good Governance

Overview
The Emerging Markets Investors Alliance educates institutional investors on key governance and sustainability issues, produces policy papers on these issues, and organizes dialogues between subject matter experts, investors in public markets, and government and company officials. In the past three to four years, the alliance has successfully mobilized and trained several investors in the U.S., Europe, and the U.K.; established thematic working groups involving governance experts and investors; and facilitated direct educational engagement between investors and government officials from emerging markets. This grant will enable the alliance to deepen its work on topics including fiscal transparency, extractive industry transparency, community consent, deforestation, open contracting, and corporate governance through a strong educational agenda and active engagement with governments and companies. This grant will enable the alliance to strengthen their direct advocacy work through forums with governments and companies.

The Emerging Markets Investors Alliance brings together investors to raise awareness about governance issues in developing countries and to build their capacity to engage and advocate for more open, transparent, and responsive governance. Beginning in the fall of 2016, the Alliance has successfully recruited and trained a group of investors, established thematic working groups involving governance experts and investors, and facilitated direct engagement between investors and government officials from emerging markets. This grant will enable the Alliance to engage more investors and deepen the work on awareness creation, capacity building, and strategic advocacy.
