for general operating support
The Electric Drive Coalition is a nonpartisan group of business leaders committed to promoting policies that facilitate the deployment of electric vehicles on a mass scale in order to combat the economic, environmental, and national security dangers caused by our dependence on petroleum. Its membership includes several Fortune 500 companies, including GE, Cisco, Nissan, FedEx, PG&E, and Siemens. These executives promote electrification through a variety of policies and actions, including the creation of electrification "ecosystems," geographic areas in which all of the elements of an electrified transportation system are in operation. This includes preparing the electric grid, deploying smart battery-charging technology, and engaging the key auto manufacturing sectors. The Coalition is the new partner organization to Securing America's Future Energy, a long-time Hewlett Foundation grantee that has worked on reducing the nation's dependence on oil imports by engaging key military and national security advocates.
