Since 1979, the Djerassi Resident Artists Program has provided more than 2,000 artists of all disciplines with uninterrupted time for work, reflection, and the inspiration of collegial interaction. Located on a beautiful 583-acre ranch in the Santa Cruz Mountains, Djerassi annually hosts more than seventy artists in its retreat-like setting, and it welcomes more than 750 visitors to its campus for public programs that include sculpture hikes and an annual open house. During the grant period, Djerassi plans to continue its core residency program, strengthen relationships with its alumni, pilot fee-based workshops to increase earned revenue, and build a facilities reserve.

Djerassi Resident Artists Program is located on a rural 583-acre tract of coastal mountains in Woodside, 30 miles south of San Francisco. Each year, approximately 70 artists are provided the opportunity to live in the idyllic rural campus and work uninterrupted for a one-month period, free of charge. Artists are provided with living space, food, and studio spaces. The resident artists benefit from the intellectual stimulation and collegial interaction of Djerassi’s curated artist community. In addition, the organization stewards its land and maintain the campus buildings and infrastructure through eco-friendly practices.
