Overview
Development Gateway helps governments and donors use data management tools to improve development results. This program will support governments in East and West Africa in using data generated through the implementation of government programs, referred to as administrative data. Development Gateway will support the governments of Uganda and Côte d’Ivoire as they plan how to increase administrative data quality and use as part of the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data’s national data road map process; help the governments of Tanzania and Senegal build data systems to address specific policy or operational challenges; and document and share evidence on administrative data use in Africa.

Development Gateway (DG), a subsidiary of IREX , is an international nonprofit organization with team members in more than 10 countries worldwide. DG conducts research on data ecosystems, builds digital tools to support those ecosystems, improves data interoperability and analytics, and advises on data strategy and digital transformation to strengthen decision making, transparency, and service delivery. IREX is a global development and education organization dedicated to building a more just, prosperous, and inclusive world by empowering youth, cultivating leaders, strengthening institutions, and extending access to quality education and information. Through this grant, DG, together with education sector experts from IREX, will assess education data systems and digital public infrastructure to ongoing and future efforts to strengthen education data systems in West and East Africa. IREX is a global development and education organization dedicated to building a more just, prosperous, and inclusive world by empowering youth, cultivating leaders, strengthening institutions, and extending access to quality education and information. Through this grant, DG, together with education sector experts from IREX, will map the education data and decision ecosystems in Kenya and Senegal, focusing on primary and secondary education, to more holistically understand the barriers to more effective data sharing, interoperability, and ultimate use. By understanding the barriers to data use, this program will allow for more targeted interventions for creating robust education data ecosystems for better learning outcomes.
