Overview
A grant to Dancers’ Group would support the organization’s partnership with Theatre Bay Area to provide ongoing local outreach for Bay Area Performing Arts Spaces, a dynamic online marketplace that links performance and rehearsal space with artists and others who need access to affordable space. The marketplace launched in 2011 and is a joint project of Fractured Atlas Productions and the local partners. During this grant period, Theatre Bay Area and Dancers’ Group intend to continue to conduct outreach to Bay Area organizations and make a concentrated push to increase the adoption of a new calendar syncing feature that Fractured Atlas has developed.

Grants to this Grantee
for Bay Area National Dance Week
Bay Area National Dance Week is a community-based outreach program that promotes dance awareness through an annual ten-day festival of more than 500 free dance events in multiple forms presented throughout the region. Choreographers, dance artists, and dance companies open their studios and theaters to the public to enable them to see dance being created, learn about different types of dance, participate in dance themselves, and build a greater understanding and appreciation of the art form. A final grant would provide operating funds to allow Bay Area National Dance Week, now a program of Dancers’ Group rather than a sponsored project, to continue the festival at the same high caliber intersection of diversity, quality and access. A one-year grant term provides a bridge until the program can be folded into Dancers’ Group’s general operating support renewal application in 2014.
for general operating support
Dancers Group promotes the visibility and viability of Bay Area dance through collaborative programs that assist, advocate for, and support its community of artists and audiences. Programs include technical assistance, fiscal sponsorship, regranting, and a comprehensive marketing and communications system. On a vigorous growth trajectory during the past few years, the organization is entering a period of stabilization while serving the evolving needs of the region.
