Overview
This OE grant to Creative Commons is to support their recent leadership transition. The organization’s top priority and opportunity is a successful transition to the new CEO, Cathy Casserly. This will require work to support the CEO, board, and staff to maximize the opportunity of this transition to its first full-time onsite CEO. OE funds will be used to continue board development efforts with services provided by the Teleos Leadership Institute. Teleos will assist CC for another six months to build upon the work done during the August 2010 board meeting, on-going coaching support for Board leadership, CEO, and other executive management. Specific 2011 services include ad hoc support of board committees to define and meet their respective charters and deliverables; designing and facilitating a board strategic retreat; and advising board committee members in the strategic planning process around meetings and retreats.

for general operating support
Creative Commons is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering people and communities by equipping them with the legal, technical, and policy solutions that they require to address real challenges on the ground. (Substrategy: Field Building)
for general operating support
Creative Commons is a nonprofit organization and global community dedicated to supporting an open and accessible Internet that is enriched with free knowledge and creative resources for people around the world to use, share, and cultivate. This grant will provide general operating support for Creative Commons as it works toward its bold vision over the next several years. The work of Creative Commons furthers the transparency goals of the Foundation in general and provides a core infrastructure for the OER movement.
for the work of the Open Policy Network
Creative Commons provides the foundation for Open Educational Resources through its free, machine-readable copyright licenses and has given tremendous strength to the "open" movement by advocating for greater use of such licenses. This grant would enable Creative Commons to continue to advance the cause of openness through the Open Policy Network, which seeks to encourage and support open policy opportunities with the information and resources needed to turn them into reality. The proposal will help further the creation, adoption, and implementation of open policies and practices in countries around the world.
