Overview
CREATE CA is a relatively new, statewide initiative to restore arts education to California’s schools. CREATE CA began with a Hewlett-funded strategic planning process, and is now led by a coalition of five organizations (three of which are Hewlett grantees) and fiscally sponsored by the California Alliance for Arts Education. The coalition has developed a strong leadership team from across the education and arts education sectors in California, and will build support for recommendations in the State Superintendent of Public Instruction’s Blueprint for Creative Schools through statewide and regional convenings; the development of an affiliate program for partner organizations, such as the Education Trust-West; and support of the National Arts Education Data Project, which will provide detailed data about California students’ access to arts education resources in public schools. Renewed support will help CREATE CA move forward on its strategic goals, while building an infrastructure for sustainability and growth in the future
