Overview
Community School of Music and Arts (CSMA) is one of the Bay Area’s largest music and visual arts education organizations, providing arts training for people of all ages and abilities. The organization’s music program includes individual lessons, group classes, camps, and public performances. Its in-school programs provide weekly standards-based, sequential visual arts and music classes in 40 local schools, reaching 16,000 children in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties, including some of the region’s most underserved populations. Capital support will enable CSMA to build an extension to its current building, which in turn will allow it to serve more youth in a higher-quality facility.

Community School of Music and Arts is an arts education provider serving San Mateo and Santa Clara counties. Its arts and music training programs provide individual lessons, group classes, public performances, and sequential standards-based courses. It’s programs reach over 25,000 students of all ages each year, including approximately 19,000 youth at 55 local schools. Support of Community School of Music and Arts aligns with the Performing Arts Program’s Youth strategy through the Program Delivery substrategy.

Support of CSMA aligns with the Program’s Communities strategy. This grant to CSMA is for a redesign of the organization’s website to comply with accessibility guidelines named in the Americans with Disabilities Act.
