Overview
The Coalition for Grassroots Human Rights Defenders Kenya (CGHRD-Kenya) is a social movement of grassroots activists, feminists, sexual and reproductive health and rights activists and community organizers working in different informal settlements and rural areas in Kenya since 2016. Its existence was sparked by a realization of the existing and glaring gaps between local grassroots and national activism and feminist organizing in Kenya. The organization aims to mobilize grassroots human rights defenders, feminists, and community organizers to advocate for reforms aimed at ensuring the attainment of social justice and enjoyment of human rights in Kenya. The Coalition for Grassroots Human Rights Defenders Kenya (CGHRD-Kenya) is a social movement of grassroots activists, feminists, sexual and reproductive health and rights activists, and community organizers working in different informal settlements and rural areas in Kenya since 2016. Its existence was sparked by a realization of the existing and glaring gaps between local grassroots and national activism and feminist organizing in Kenya. This grant will allow the coalition to organize its annual festival at the culmination of the 16 days of activism against gender-based violence campaign. (Strategy: Inclusive Governance)
