Grants to this Grantee
for advancing air quality policies and clean fuels technologies in Mexico's transportation sector
The Centro Mexicano de Derecho Ambiental (CEMDA) advocates for policies to reduce vehicle pollution and increase the use of clean fuels. The goal of this renewal grant is to strengthen the capacity of CEMDA’s air quality and clean transportation team to synchronize Mexico’s heavy- and light-duty vehicle emissions standards with those of the United States and to secure Mexico’s commitment to distribute ultra-low sulfur fuels. By reducing air pollution from the transportation sector, such policies would prevent approximately 14,000 deaths annually.
for board development and organizational planning
The Centro Mexicano de Derecho Ambiental (CEMDA) is a non-partisan civil organization who promotes the rights for environmental protection and a healthy environment. CEMDA’s work contributes to effective law enforcement, better public policies and strengthening the rule of law.
In the context of CEMDA's upcoming 20th anniversary in 2013, the main objective of this OE is to strengthen CEMDA´s governance and management bodies. This grant will focus on: 1) Its Board of Directors; 2) Its Coordination Committee (COCO); and 3) Establish and operate an external body of advisors (Technical Advisory Board). The anticipated results are to lay out a Board succession plan, an operations plan for the Board Committees, and an operations plan for the interaction between the governance and management bodies.
