Overview
The Center for Economic Research and Training (CIDE), is a publicly funded institution committed to interdisciplinary research and teaching in the fields of economics, political science, public administration, international relations, history, and law. Part of CIDEs mission is to help improve the quality of public policymaking by shaping of public agendas and enhancement of citizens understanding of key public issues. With this grant, CIDE will work to implement, by exercising, recently passed guarantees for collective action in Mexico. This work will be conducted via strategic litigation by CIDEs public interest law clinic, the only one of its kind in Mexico.

Centro de Investigacin y Docencia Econmicas (CIDE) is a Mexican public research university whose mission is to generate knowledge to improve policy and decision making. This grant will build on previous support to CIDE to research why good policies are poorly implemented in Mexicos federal and subnational governments. CIDE will carry out a diagnosis of institutional capacities at the federal and state level, and develop a set of proposals for improving them.

Centro de Investigacin y Docencias Econmicas (CIDE) is a Mexican public university that specializes in economic, legal, and policy research to improve public policy in Mexico. CIDE hosts the Accountability Network, a project that brings together civil society organizations, academics, media, opinion leaders, and public agencies to produce new research and diversify policy dialogue around how Mexico could develop a more comprehensive policy framework to improve public sector accountability. This renewal would permit the Network to generate more specific research to inform proposals for institutional improvements to increase accountability.

This grant would support an increase in the quantity and quality of research, training, evaluation, and public education campaigns aimed at improving the conditions for greater accountability in Mexicos public sector. The training and research portions of the project would provide students with scholarships and greater analytical tools to apply the principles of accountability in governance. The evaluation and public education campaigns would produce more evidence about how accountability might improve in Mexico.
