Overview
This organizational effectiveness grant will support the Center for Health, Human Rights and Development (CEHURD) to sustain institutional stability in light of its recent leadership succession, and allow its new center of excellence, Afya na Haki (Ahaki), to establish operational systems and strategic priorities during this transitionary period. Specifically, the funding will allow CEHURD to invest in leadership development and reorganization planning, and support Ahaki’s first strategic planning process. Combined, these institutional strengthening efforts will contribute to CEHURD’s emerging leadership in national and regional SRHR ecosystems.

for general operating support
The Center for Health, Human Rights and Development (CEHURD) uses research, advocacy, and strategic litigation to increase community mobilization and participation among rights holders, and transparency and accountability among policymakers toward the realization of sexual and reproductive health and rights in Uganda. As part of its new strategic plan, CEHURD will undertake capacity building with religious and cultural leaders for reproductive rights advocacy; movement building including leadership development and mentorship with peer civil society organizations; and strengthening strategic partnerships to prevent maternal mortality due to unsafe abortion.
