Overview
Cashion Cultural Legacy is dedicated to the performance, teaching, development, and documentation of Mexican folk dance, or folklórico. Its work includes support and presentation of the Los Lupeños Mexican folk dance group and a youth performing ensemble; dance education for youth and adults; artist exchanges; and cultural preservation through research and documentation. This grant aligns with the Performing Arts Program’s Artists strategy by providing relevant resources and opportunities to local artists. Funding will support Cashion Cultural Legacy’s artist mentorship and exchange programs, which connect Bay Area folklórico dancers and local communities to folk dance maestros from varied cultures in México, as well as local mentors to help bridge movement and dance cultures.
