Overview
The Carnegie Endowment’s Oil Initiative seeks to provide up-to-date research about the climate risks of new and unconventional oils and petroleum products. This grant would implement the oil-climate index, an instrument for decision making that includes data on the life-cycle carbon emissions of different crude oils. Carnegie would also continue to support advocates, decision makers, and academics with their outreach activities and publications.

Its aim is to provide concerned political and civic activists, political and policy actors, and philanthropists desiring to improve democracy with focused, actionable comparative research and learning that sheds new light on central political dilemmas and difficulties.
