Overview
This grant is to support Carnegie Endowment’s Africa Program in examining the shifting global market for non-renewable natural resources, particularly critical minerals, as resource-rich African countries extract these resources both for the global market and for their own development. The findings and recommendations will be circulated to targeted international affairs and climate policy communities across the G20 countries, which will be the largest demand centers for these resources, and will also be essential partners to Africa as global investments in the clean energy economy are ramped up.
