for UndauntedK12
UndauntedK12 is a fiscally sponsored project of Cambiar Education. Primary schools are the nation’s second-largest form of public infrastructure in the U.S. Schools are also one of the largest public-sector energy consumers, and their nearly half-million diesel buses represent the largest public transit fleet. UndauntedK12 works to ensure that every dollar spent in K-12 infrastructure is aligned with building an equitable zero-carbon future, and that every education leader recognizes that the rapidly changing climate threatens their mission. With the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act in 2022, Undaunted will launch a national Climate-Ready School Infrastructure Hub to ensure municipal and district leaders are aware of the new funding opportunities for K-12 school decarbonization and resilience, understand the benefits of the new technologies to their communities, and receive support to develop competitive funding applications to secure this funding for underserved communities. (Substrategy: U.S. National Policy)
for UndauntedK12
UndauntedK12 is a fiscally sponsored project of Cambiar Education. Based on the belief that there is transformational power in the K-12 education sector to positively impact climate change, UndauntedK12 works to support America's K-12 public schools to make an equitable transition to zero carbon emissions while preparing our youth to build a sustainable future in a rapidly changing climate. In addition to the need to address K-12’s significant building and transportation emissions, the sector is positioned to catalyze increased awareness, public support, workforce development, innovation, and, most critically, the shifts in mindset that form the foundation for any success we might envision. Moreover, the K-12 sector is central to addressing equity and enhancing community resilience. This grant will support UndauntedK12 as it undertakes works in three areas: (a) increasing funding to the K-12 sector to advance equitable decarbonization; (b) bringing a “whole of government” response to climate change to the U.S. Department of Education’s goals, personnel, and programs; and (c) supporting the activation of public school climate change-focused strategies.
