Overview
California Humanities connects people to ideas and one another in order to understand our shared heritage and diverse cultures, inspire civic participation, and shape our future. Its grant programs enable communities to voice, record, and share histories through video, photography, murals, theatre, documentary film, radio, and new media projects. The organization reaches more than 42,000 annually through performances and presentations throughout the Bay Area and the state. With new leadership, a new office in Oakland, and a new strategic plan, the organization is well positioned to build momentum to integrate humanities, arts, and civil society to reach a wider cross-section of the state, including underserved communities.
