Launched in 2001, the California Alliance of African American Educators works with students, families, and teachers to help create culturally conscious African American students who are lifelong learners and critical thinkers. Through its work in six regions across California, the Alliance and its 1,000 members work to create a forum for the exchange of ideas and strategies to improve the educational opportunities for African American students. This grant would support the organization as it continues its work in California and explores additional national opportunities.

Grants to this Grantee
for general operating support
The California Alliance of African American Educators (CAAAE) was established in 2001 to advocate for black children who were being marginalized in their state. CAAAE, now doing business as A Black Education Network (ABEN), has the vision to develop, support, and sustain a national network of schools, churches, nonprofit organizations, educators (broadly defined), researchers, parents, corporations, foundations, and others to serve thousands of students through Saturday STEM academies and related education and cultural programs and activities to ensure that black students reach their full potential. This grant will support ABEN’s continued efforts.
